TDI demonstration farm: bananas and drip irrigation

A working farm where families see climate-smart methods in action, from banana suckers to drip irrigation powered by the sun.

The TDI demonstration farm shows that good harvests are possible even with uncertain rains. In March 2023, banana suckers were transplanted onto the farm and mulched in May 2023 to keep moisture in the soil.

A water tank stand was built, tanks were mounted and solar panels installed. Trenches were dug and drip pipes fitted, so each banana plant receives water directly at its roots.

Farmers from surrounding communities visit to learn the methods and take suckers home.
