Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

Borehole drilling and rehabilitation

Drilling new boreholes and repairing broken ones, with a trained water committee to look after each water point.

water points this year

Many villages in Chitipa still walk long distances to unprotected sources. With local churches, TDI identifies the communities in greatest need, drills or rehabilitates boreholes, and trains a water point committee to manage repairs and collect small user contributions.

Communities contribute local materials and labour, so the water point is truly theirs from day one.
